Buffalo Bills fans patiently waited, seeing their team bumble through the 21st century while the New England Patriots forged an NFL dynasty. The Patriots won 16 AFC East titles in the past 17 seasons, only losing out to the Miami Dolphins once when Tom Brady tore his ACL in 2008. Through it all, the Bills stumbled through an 18-year playoff drought of their own, failing to win 10 games from 2000-17 while the Patriots did it 16 times.

My, how the tables have turned.

The Bills clinched their first AFC East title since 1995 last weekend; at 11-3, they’re currently in position to earn the No. 2 seed in the conference. The Patriots, meanwhile, were eliminated from postseason contention two weeks early, losing 22-12 to the Dolphins in a game where they couldn’t even muster an offensive touchdown. At 6-8, they’re on pace for their first losing record since 2000, future Hall of Famer Bill Belichick’s first year as head coach.

Certainly, the chaos of COVID-19 wreaked havoc on a Patriots team who struggled to find consistency on offense after Brady’s offseason departure. Across the way, the Bills have seen the value of when your star quarterback clicks; Josh Allen has already passed for 4,000 yards and was rewarded this week with his first career Pro Bowl appearance. It’s a well-built roster stocked for postseason success in the way the Patriots were just a few short years ago.

The Bills come in having much more to play for, but they know all too well a trip to Foxborough is never easy. Can they find a way to put some demons behind them and continue their steady march to the playoffs?

Monday Night Football: Buffalo at New England

Kickoff: Monday, Dec. 28 at 8:15 p.m. ET

TV: ESPN/ABC

Spread: Buffalo -7

Three Things to Watch

1. Will Cam Newton play the whole game?

The Patriots, after a 45-0 explosion against the Los Angeles Chargers, have failed to score an offensive touchdown the past two weeks. That has put Newton's hold on the starting role in jeopardy; he’s thrown for less than 100 yards in two of the last four games, only has five touchdown passes on the year and doesn’t appear to be in the team’s long-term plans.

“I’m not going to get caught up into it or feed into that, knowing that I’m still on a job interview, to be honest with you,” Newton said this week on local Boston radio. “It’s my job to put the best version of me on film and that’s what I plan on doing.”

It would make sense to give Jarrett Stidham another shot soon, considering the second-year player and 2019 fourth-round draft pick has a four-year contract with New England. It’s hard to do worse with Newton lately, who has struggled to get going against playoff teams the past two weeks with solid defenses. Despite his legs, he’s gotten sacked seven times against the Los Angeles Rams and Miami, showing his age while failing to establish the run part of his game. It’s hard to see that trajectory changing against a Bills defense that’s allowed 20 points or fewer in three of the past four games, produced five interceptions during that stretch, and held Ben Roethlisberger to less than 200 passing yards.

If the Bills jump out to a quick lead, will Belichick have a short leash? That adds a small layer of unpredictability here although Stidham has hardly been steady; he’s yet to throw more than a single touchdown in any game this year.

2. Will Josh Allen bounce back from an uneven November performance?

The Patriots defense was pretty effective against Allen despite a 24-21 losing effort on Nov. 1. Allen’s 65.5 QB rating from that game is his worst of the season and he was just 11-for-18, throwing for only 154 yards, no touchdowns and an interception. Top wide receiving target Stefon Diggs caught six of those passes but everyone else struggled to get open.

However, the second time around should be easier without Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore on the field. The 2019 NFL Defensive Player of the Year was placed on injured reserve this week with a quadriceps injury, further draining an already thin Patriots defense. Allen also is playing better than he has since September, throwing for just eight touchdowns and one interception the last three games while adding two more touchdowns on the ground.

Last week, the Bills totaled a season-high 534 yards against the Denver Broncos and the offense was clicking on all cylinders: passing, rushing, and third-down conversions (9-for-13) while racking up 48 points. It’s hard to see the Patriots stopping that train.

3. Can the Bills establish the run?

The Bills remain Allen-driven on offense, ranked second in the NFL in passing yards per game but just 21st in rushing. However, the Broncos offered a glimmer of hope; running back Zack Moss tied his season high with 81 yards while Devin Singletary added 68 more, including a 51-yarder for a touchdown in garbage time.

It’s important for the Bills to add another facet to their offense as they tune up for the playoffs and a potential matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs' scoring machine. Against the Chiefs on Oct. 19, they had just 84 total rushing yards, 42 of those from Allen, and could only drudge up 17 points. It was a reminder that to win the Super Bowl, it can’t just be Allen, then Allen-to-Diggs all the time.

Considering the weakness in the Patriots’ D, expect the Bills to tinker a bit offensively and try and build on last week's performance against the Broncos. Depending on results elsewhere, it could be the last regular-season game starters play if the Bills “lock” into a seed and choose to use Week 17 as a bye week of sorts.

Final Analysis

The Bills come into the week with momentum, four straight wins, and an infinitesimal chance (however small) at the top seed. The Patriots are simply trying to play for pride, a position neither their team nor Belichick has rarely encountered.

Add in Buffalo’s motivation at kicking the Pats while they’re down and it’s not hard to handicap this one. A win would give the Bills their first sweep of their division rival since Doug Flutie was the starting quarterback in 1999.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cincinnati Bengals Monday Night Football Week 15 Free Online Live Streaming ,December 21, 2020.

Monday Night Football Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cincinnati Bengals 2020 NFL Week 15 online free live streaming high quality(HD) broadcast on Monday ,December 21 ,2020 at 8:15 p.m. ET .Watch NFL Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cincinnati Bengals free live stream online match on any device .You can follow to Watch Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cincinnati Bengals free live streaming from here details below.

Two weeks ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers were the toast of the NFL at 11-0. But after dropping two straight games, they need to get back to their winning ways, starting with their "Monday Night Football" game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

These teams are meeting for the second time in six weeks after Pittsburgh dominated Cincinnati 36-10 in Week 10. Ben Roethlisberger threw for a season-high 333 yards and four touchdowns, and the Steelers led by two or more scores for nearly 44 minutes of game time.

The Steelers could use that kind of showing again after the way they've been playing lately, too. They haven't reached 20 points in the last three games and turned the ball over five times in the process. Playing those games in a 12-day stretch after a COVID-19 outbreak with the Ravens delayed their would-be Thanksgiving game didn't help, but this team has to play better as Pittsburgh gets ready for the playoffs. A win on Monday over Cincinnati or a loss by Cleveland to the New York Giants on Sunday night clinches the AFC North for the Steelers, which would take a lot of the pressure off their Week 17 finale with the Browns.

For the Bengals, that earlier November loss to Pittsburgh started a season-worst five-game skid. They've scored more than 10 points just once during that stretch, although Brandon Allen has had to start three of those games in place of the injured Joe Burrow. It's Allen who's now injured (bone bruise), so Cincinnati will turn to Ryan Finley at quarterback. A fourth-round pick in the 2019 draft, Finley went 0-3 as a starter that season and has not played well (10-for-19, 75 yds., 2 INTs) in four limited appearances this season.

One of these two AFC North rivals will end their losing streak in prime time, but what would it take for the Bengals to win for the first time in 12 matchups against the Steelers? Let's break down the keys to the game.

Monday Night Football: Pittsburgh at Cincinnati

Kickoff: Monday, Dec. 21 at 8:15 p.m. ET

TV: ESPN

Spread: Steelers -13

Three Things to Watch

1. Can the Steelers revitalize their passing attack?

Pittsburgh's offense didn't reach its 2018 heights at the start of the season, but it was strong enough. Through nine games, Roethlisberger had a 103.0 passer rating with 22 touchdowns to four interceptions. The 38-year-old has really shown his age over the last four games, when he has thrown an interception every time out while failing to reach six yards per attempt.

Roethlisberger has acknowledged his struggles, and not everything is on his shoulders. Diontae Johnson concerningly leads the league with nine drops this season, and the team dropped an astounding eight passes last week. The Steelers have acommanding lead in drops (33, next-closest 28) and expected points lost due to drops (63, next-closest 52). However, Roethlisberger's lack of arm strength coming off elbow surgery — not to mention a balky knee — is leading to more short passes over the middle, where receivers are most likely to drop the ball.

Facing the Bengals could be an opportunity to get back on track. Their defense has allowed 7.4 yards per attempt (23rd in the NFL) with just nine interceptions (tied for 10th least). Roethlisberger has already torn them up once this season, so perhaps he can replicate that success.

Besides expanding the passing game beyond short passes over the middle — and not dropping the ball — one wrinkle the Steelers could add to their offense that would give them a boost is more play-action. Pittsburgh has used it less than any other team this season since Roethlisberger mostly operates out of the shotgun and doesn't like turning his back to the defense, but ignoring this tried-and-true strategy may eventually come back to bite them. Pittsburgh doesn't even need a strong running attack to make it effective, it just needs to be in a down-and-distance situation where the run threat is credible.

2. Will either team be able to establish the run?

Speaking of running the ball, neither team has been able to do that lately. It's been a continuing problem since they both finished among the eight worst rushing teams last season — and the 13 worst teams each season since 2017 — but injuries have made their respective ground games even more ineffective.

Since Joe Mixon went down with a foot injury in Week 6, the Bengals are averaging just 84.1 rushing yards per game, including a pair of 40-yard performances in the last three games. But the Steelers haven't been much better with James Conner banged up; they've been held under 50 yards on the ground in five of their last seven games and averaged 54.3 yards per game during that stretch.

Despite their inability to move the ball lately, the Steelers should have an edge on Monday because of the defenses. They are giving up 100.9 rushing yards per game (sixth) and 4.2 yards per carry (11th), while the Bengals are allowing 131.7 (28th) and 4.6 (27th). Conner may also be playing for his job since he's set to hit free agency, although Benny Snell Jr. (3.3 ypc) and Anthony McFarland Jr. (3.4) have yet to impress.

For the Steelers, they were able to blow out the Bengals last time without doing much on the ground (20 attempts, 40 yards), but that is not sustainable against stronger opponents. They'll need to make sure future opponents have reason to worry about Conner and Co. The Bengals meanwhile, will need to control the clock if they're going to pull out a home upset.

3. What will the Steelers' defense look like with their latest injuries?

The reason that Pittsburgh has been so dominant this season is because of their defense. They're first in scoring defense, sacks, and turnovers and third in total defense. However, serious cracks are showing with the latest group of injuries.

Pittsburgh already lost Devin Bush to a torn ACL in October, and star pass rusher Bud Dupree went down with the same injury earlier this month. Fellow linebacker Robert Spillane was the latest to land on injured reserve with a knee injury, although he may return in time for the playoffs. But that's a lot of production to miss in the meantime.

Dupree was one of three Steelers to rank in the top 10 in sacks, and his presence was clearly missed last week when Pittsburgh only registered one sack against the Bills. T.J. Watt (12.0 sacks) is still a Defensive Player of the Year contender and Stephon Tuitt (8.0 sacks) can be a menace, so the Bengals, who have given up the second-most sacks in the league, will have their hands full. If the Steelers can't bring the pressure, that will be a massive red flag.

Final Analysis

The Bengals' season was over the moment Joe Burrow went down, but they can at least send off this disaster of a season by being a thorn in the Steelers' side. But for as badly as the Steelers have played recently, the Bengals have been even worse. This could be a scoring struggle unless someone turns things around quickly.

This game at Cincinnati could not have come at a better time for Pittsburgh, which desperately needs to get back on track. Don't expect another 26-point blowout as they had a few weeks ago, but the Steelers should pull away on the strength of a banged-up defense and rejuvenated offense.

Prediction: Steelers 27, Bengals 10

Baltimore Ravens vs Cleveland Browns Monday Night Football Week 14 Free Online Live Streaming ,December 14, 2020.

It wouldn't have been a major surprise at the start of the season for Week 14's "Monday Night Football" matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns to have heavy playoff implications.

Both teams had postseason aspirations, after all. But no one would've expected the season to play out this way.

The Ravens, the No. 1 seed in the AFC just last season, are out of the current playoff picture at 7-5, even with an additional wild-card team. Football Outsiders still gives them a 54.6 percent chance of making the playoffs because they have the second-easiest remaining strength of schedule (at Browns, Jaguars, Giants, at Bengals), but every win is crucial with them also needing to leapfrog the Raiders.

Cleveland, meanwhile, has a chance for its first double-digit-win season with three games left behind the league's second-best rushing attack. But barring an epic collapse by the 11-1 Steelers, the AFC North title is out of the picture, so the Browns will have to fend off a bevy of other wild-card contenders as it holds a one-game lead over the Dolphins and Colts.

Clearly, a lot has changed since these teams met up in Week 1. Baltimore delivered a 38-6 beatdown, and these teams looked very much like their 2019 incarnations. Round 2 carries more playoff implications than perhaps almost any game on the Week 14 schedule, and it will tell us a lot about their potential the rest of the way.

Monday Night Football: Baltimore at Cleveland

Kickoff: Monday, Nov. 14 at 8:15 p.m. ET

TV: ESPN

Spread: Ravens -2.5

Three Things to Watch

1. Can the Browns keep their play-action attack rolling?

The Browns hired Kevin Stefanski as their new head coach because they wanted to revamp their offense, and his strength in the play-action game was a big selling point. Baker Mayfield was third in the NFL in touchdowns in play-action, and Kirk Cousins, who played under Stefanski, led the category.

Some of Cleveland's best moments this season have come via play-action. One notable example was last week when the Browns scored two touchdowns on the Titans, including a 75-yard pass to Donovan Peoples-Jones. The Ravens have a much better defense, especially against play-action, than the Titans do, but this is still the Browns' bread and butter.

The key to effectively running it will be 1) running the ball well and 2) staying out of third-and-long situations. Baltimore's run defense has been rather average this season at 4.4 yards per carry allowed (18th in the NFL), and the Browns ran for 135 yards in their first meeting, so the first should be possible. And by avoiding sacks — Mayfield has taken just six in his last six games — the Browns can be in a position where running the ball is a credible threat.

2. Can Lamar Jackson get back on track?

Jackson has not been the same passing threat this season as teams have worked to take the middle of the field away from him. That's where he's most comfortable throwing the ball and where his skill position players are best suited. Jackson hasn't posted 250 passing yards since the season opener against the Browns and hasn't averaged eight yards per pass attempt since Week 4.

The Ravens didn't need to use Jackson much last week against Dallas since the running game was so potent — 294 yards on 37 attempts, including 94 on 13 attempts from Jackson — but he was efficient when needed. Going 12-for-17 for 107 yards with two touchdowns and a pick gave him a 78.7 QB rating, his best in the last five weeks.

This could be another great opportunity for Jackson to show off his arm. The Browns, who are ranked 23rd against the pass, have been particularly susceptible against tight ends. Watch out for Mark Andrews, if he returns from the reserve/COVID-19 list, as hauled in five passes for 58 yards and two touchdowns in their first meeting.

3. Which team will generate more pressure?

This could apply to just about any matchup, but both the Browns and Ravens have the potential to make a big impact here. Even though they only rank 13th and 16th in the league in sacks, respectively, they each have stars who can give opposing offensive coordinators nightmares.

The Ravens have an intimidating front headlined by Calais Campbell and Yannick Ngakoue, although the latter is still seeing his playing time ramp up after arriving midseason from Minnesota. Baltimore blitzes a league-high 42.2 percent of the time, which will be a big change of pace for Mayfield, who was only pressured once against a Titans team that blitzes 28.5 percent of the time. And Mayfield has especially struggled while under pressure: Even before last week's performance, Pro Football Focus gave him a 29.8 grade under pressure and an 86.8 mark in a clean pocket.

Amazingly, Jackson has managed to avoid sacks well after the team lost star left tackle Ronnie Stanley in Week 9; he has just taken five in the last four games after 19 in his first seven. The obvious player to watch for Cleveland will be Myles Garrett, who led the league with 9.5 sacks before testing positive for COVID-19, and notched another in his return to the field last week.

Final Analysis

The teams have converged since they first met to open the season, but keep in mind that their records don't say everything. The Browns may have a two-game lead in the standings, but the Ravens' point differential (+85) is 100 points better than the Browns' mark (-15). That's ominous for this game, even at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Despite their bounce-back passing performances last week, you can expect to see a lot of Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, and J.K. Dobbins this week. Given the Ravens are stronger on that side of the ball, they'll have the clear edge on Monday night, but this should be a fascinating game.

Prediction: Ravens 27, Browns 23

Cowboys vs Ravens Tuesday Night Football Week 13 Free Online Live Streaming ,December 08, 2020.

Cowboys vs Ravens 2020 NFL Week 13 online free live streaming high quality(HD) broadcast on Tuesday ,December 08 ,2020 at 8:05 p.m. ET. Watch NFL Cowboys vs Ravens free live stream online match on any device .You can follow to Watch Cowboys vs Ravens free live streaming from here details below.

The Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens, a pair of NFL teams that are muddling through disappointing seasons, will wrap up Week 13 on Tuesday night in a game that was moved because of the Ravens' COVID-19 issues.

For the Cowboys, their collapse is understandable. Starting quarterback Dak Prescott suffered an ankle injury in Week 5 and should have taken any dreams of the postseason along with it. The Cowboys have lost five of their past six games, slumping to 3-8, and own the NFC's worst record despite playing in its easiest division.

I use the word should here because the Cowboys remain in playoff contention despite it all. A win could bring them back into a tie with Washington and the New York Giants for the NFC East lead. Games left against Philadelphia, Cincinnati, and the Giants give hope a 7-9 record would be enough to create an unlikely playoff appearance behind the play of the few offensive stars they have left on the field: running back Ezekiel Elliott and wide receiver Amari Cooper.

Believe it or not, that's more than the Ravens can say about their own chances. At 6-5, last year's top seed in the AFC was eliminated from their divisional race with a 19-14 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers Wednesday afternoon. They'll now try to make the Super Bowl as a wild-card team although they're on the outside looking in heading to Week 13. On paper, the schedule looks promising to catch up: Cleveland Browns aside, the combined record of their other four opponents remaining is an abysmal 10-33-1.

But the Ravens can't capitalize without their top players on the field. A COVID-19 outbreak has combined with injuries and inconsistency to put their season in peril. They're 1-4 in their past five games and may be without their top two quarterbacks for Tuesday night. While four of five losses this season are to the Steelers, Chiefs and Titans, the AFC's top three teams, the quality of the opponent you're playing doesn't matter. A loss is a loss, period, and the Ravens can only afford one more if they hope to simply make the postseason in 2020.

So can the Ravens get healthy in time to deliver a crucial home win? Or will the Cowboys defy the odds and catch a lucky break at the right time?

Dallas at Baltimore

Kickoff: Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 8:05 p.m. ET

TV: FOX/NFL Network

Spread: Ravens -7.5

Three Things to Watch

1. Who will be healthy for the Ravens come Tuesday night?

If you're betting on the Ravens, or simply just a fan, expect to be checking your phone constantly for notifications all the way up until game time. The Ravens' outbreak may have subsided, with no new players added to the COVID-19 list since Wednesday, but several remain in quarantine and unlikely to be activated for Tuesday night's game. ESPN.com reported four different strains of the coronavirus were found within the Ravens organization, including a highly infectious one that spread quickly enough to put 23 players on the reserve/COVID-19 list at one point.

That list had been reduced to 10 by Saturday, with the biggest variable among them Lamar Jackson. The most likely scenario is the quarterback gets activated this weekend after testing positive 10 days earlier. But even if he suits up against the Cowboys, it's uncertain how the loss of both practice and game time will affect him.

Just take a look at another former NFL MVP, Cam Newton, in his recovery from COVID-19 with the Patriots. In Newton's first four games back from the sidelines, he failed to throw a touchdown pass after leading the team to a 2-1 record in his first three games pre-virus. (The Patriots lost all four of those contests). Newton, like Jackson, is a running quarterback and you wonder how his stamina will be affected.

Tight end and leading pass catcher Mark Andrews also remains sidelined with COVID-19 symptoms. He's less likely to be at full strength Tuesday or even part of the active roster due to a preexisting condition as a Type I diabetic. Thankfully, the team expects no long-term effects from Andrews contracting COVID-19.

"I have not heard of any negative consequences of the diabetes with Mark up until this point," head coach John Harbaugh said earlier this week. "So that's a positive."

What if Jackson can't go or has problems completing the game? Backup Robert Griffin III was placed on injured reserve this week after tweaking his hamstring against the Steelers. It leaves 2019 sixth-round draft pick Trace McSorley as the only active quarterback on the roster, a major question mark after going 2-for-6 (although a 70-yard touchdown pass was one of those completions) against the Steelers in the second half.

2. Dez Bryant vs. the Cowboys

In a matchup with two underperforming teams, Bryant's first game against his former Cowboys teammates is grabbing a lot of the front-page headlines. He didn't even catch a single pass on two targets against the Steelers although I'd expect him to have a larger offensive presence Tuesday night.

"Whatever they have for me, I'm going to be prepared for it," Bryant said about his role. "I'm excited. I'm going to let the coaches do what they feel is best and I am just going to follow their lead."

Bryant, who has a lot of good friends still on the Cowboys, caught 531 passes for more than 7,000 yards with his former team. Can he thread through their defense and capture some of that old magic? It's just his third game back after three years away from the NFL's pace of play. Even with a leaky defense on the other side, it's hard to see Bryant making a substantial impact.

But you never know. Both Jackson and McSorley want to throw the deep ball and Bryant's speed gives them a new dimension to the offense. Especially if Andrews and others fail to suit up, Bryant will be given a few chances to strut his stuff.

3. Can the Cowboys show up?

There's no end to the Cowboys' problems on both sides of the ball. Their defense is giving up a league-high 32.6 points per game and is dead last in rushing yards allowed. The offense has scored more than 20 points just once since Dak Prescott went down while his fill-ins have thrown six touchdowns in six games. They've been picked off six times and failed to throw for 300 yards in any game (by comparison, Prescott threw for more than 450 yards three times before getting hurt).

There's a lot to dislike here. But in the past two games, there have been tepid signs of life. The defense sacked Alex Smith three times and held Washington to 156 passing yards on Thanksgiving. The week before, the team gained 376 yards on offense against the Vikings, the most in any game since Prescott was hurt while snapping a four-game losing streak. Andy Dalton, after missing time due to a concussion and COVID-19 protocols, seems to have a better grasp of the offense. On Thanksgiving, Amari Cooper topped 100 receiving yards for the first time in two months.

All of those are glimmers of hope. For the Cowboys to pull off the upset, though they need a complete game on all fronts. In particular, Ezekiel Elliott will need to get going against a Ravens defense that's shown some cracks; Derrick Henry ran for 133 yards and a touchdown against them just a few weeks ago.

Dalton also will need help from an underperforming supporting cast that includes wide receivers Michael Gallup (just 20 catches the last six weeks) and CeeDee Lamb. Lamb, in particular, has struggled to find chemistry with the QB change: he's totaled 217 receiving yards over the past six games.

Final Analysis

The Cowboys will find themselves on a more level playing field through COVID-19. Andy Dalton also appears to be finding his footing just a little bit within the offensive scheme. They're capable of covering a touchdown-plus point spread which seems high considering the uncertainty that continues around the Ravens' outbreak.

That said, Baltimore's defense is still plenty good enough while the offense works through its inconsistency. All it might take is one big play by former Cowboy Dez Bryant, turnover-free football, and a couple of nicely-timed plays on defense for the Ravens to prevail in a must-win game at home.

Buffalo Bills vs San Francisco 49ers Monday Night Football Week 13 Free Online Live Streaming ,December 07, 2020.

True to how unusual this NFL season has been, "Monday Night Football" for Week 13 between the Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers is not only the second game scheduled for that day (Washington vs. Pittsburgh is set to kick off earlier), it also takes place in State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The 49ers will be calling NFC West rival Arizona's home theirs for this game and next Sunday's date with Washington because of stricter COVID-19 regulations recently enacted in Santa Clara County.

Regardless of where this game is played, it's an important one for both teams, as each continues their push for a playoff spot. Buffalo is currently better positioned, with an 8-3 record and in first place in the AFC East. San Francisco is 5-6 but just a game behind the Cardinals for the last wild-card spot in the NFC.

The Bills are feeling good after a 27-17 win over the Chargers last week at home. It wasn't Josh Allen's best statistical day with just 157 passing yards, but the run game stepped up and the defense got the stops when it needed to against Justin Herbert. Gabriel Davis filled in nicely for an injured John Brown with 79 receiving yards, including a touchdown that he caught from fellow wideout Cole Beasley.

The 49ers also enter with momentum after their impressive 23-20 win in Los Angeles against the Rams thanks to a game-winning, 42-yard field goal by Robbie Gould as time expired. Nick Mullens was efficient and the offense got a boost with the return of wide receiver Deebo Samuel and running back Raheem Mostert. The defense also did its part by forcing four turnovers, including an interception returned for a touchdown by first-round pick Javon Kinlaw, and limiting Los Angeles to 308 total yards.

This will be Buffalo's first MNF appearance since the 2018 season when the Bills lost to New England 25-6 in Week 8. They are 0-3 in the coveted time slot since 2010. On the other hand, San Francisco is 11-3 on "Monday Night Football" in that same span although the 49ers lost in their most recent appearance, falling 27-24 in overtime to Seattle in Week 10 last season.

Monday Night Football: Buffalo at San Francisco

Kickoff: Monday, Dec. 7 at 8:15 p.m. ET

Where: State Farm Stadium (Glendale, Ariz.)

TV: ESPN

Spread: Bills -2.5

Three Things to Watch

1. Intangibles

Both of these squads had their bye Week 11 so they are relatively fresh. The Bills are beginning a stretch of three of their next four on the road and have a prime-time showdown on tap next week, hosting undefeated Pittsburgh for "Sunday Night Football." I don't think that makes this game a look-ahead situation, but something to watch early on. Meanwhile, San Francisco just finished a stretch of four of five on the road and now gets the Bills and then Washington at their home away from home in Arizona. We'll see how they handle being in somewhat unfamiliar surroundings for an extended period of time.

2. QB play

This will be Mullens' sixth start this season for San Francisco as Jimmy Garoppolo has been injured, and the third-year quarterback has been good enough at times and the reason they've lost in others. In seven games, he's completing 68 percent of his attempts but has more interceptions (seven) than touchdowns. Last week, he was 24-of-35 for 252 yards with no touchdowns and a pick. He also was sacked twice. Teams have had success throwing on Buffalo (243.5 ypg, 18th in the NFL), so there should be some opportunities for Mullens on Monday, especially with Deebo Samuel back after missing three games because of a hamstring injury. Last week against the Rams, Samuel made an immediate impact with 11 catches for 133 yards.

For Buffalo, Josh Allen has put up nice numbers this season (3,208 yards, 22 TDs, 8 INTs), but he's been a little less careful with the football lately. He has three interceptions in the past two games. Allen also may need to try and use his legs to make something happen against the 49ers' fourth-ranked passing defense (206.5 ypg). Allen has six rushing touchdowns but has seen his attempts decline gradually since totaling 21 carries in back-to-back wins over the Jets and Patriots in Weeks 7 and 8.

3. Neutral site. Will it matter?

Home-field advantage does not mean as much this season because most stadiums have been empty save for small crowds and/or cardboard cutouts. Still, the 49ers REALLY won't have home-field advantage because this game is taking place in Arizona. Now, San Francisco plays one game a year there so it won't be completely unfamiliar surroundings, but how much will this affect them? For Buffalo, this was a long trip either way so it may not bother them as much, although the Bills don't exactly have fond memories of State Farm Stadium.

In Week 10, Buffalo was leading Arizona 23-9 with a little more than five minutes remaining in the third quarter before the Cardinals mounted a furious rally and retook the lead entering the fourth. A 21-yard touchdown pass from Allen to Stefon Diggs gave the Bills a 30-26 lead with just 34 seconds left, until Kyler Murray connected with DeAndre Hopkins on a 43-yard "Hail Murray" to win the game.

Final Analysis

I know that the Bills are favored in this game, but I don't agree with it. I know that they have the QB edge with Josh Allen over Nick Mullens, but I'm a huge fan of Kyle Shanahan and I think we are finally starting to see more of the 49ers team that made it to the Super Bowl last season.

After a long wait and plenty of questions about whether they'd be able to actually play, the Pittsburgh Steelers finally got in their Week 12 game against the Ravens on Wednesday afternoon. Five days later, they're set to play again, at home against the Washington Football Team.

Both teams were initially scheduled to play on Thanksgiving Day, but Pittsburgh's game was delayed because of a COVID-19 outbreak that left the Ravens without their starting quarterback, tight end, and two top running backs, among the more than 20 players who landed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Washington, meanwhile easily disposed of the Cowboys, who were missing plenty of key players — just due to injuries.

And this game was moved from Sunday to Monday because of the Week 12 schedule shuffling. Regardless of when it's played, the Steelers will have to put their undefeated record to the test once again. Washington will be the fourth losing team in five weeks Pittsburgh gets to play, but the team is in prime playoff position thanks to the quirk of playing in the NFC East. As far as their playoff odds go, the fact that they're tied with the Giants matters far more than their 4-7 record.

Can the Steelers move to 12-0, with just the Bills, Bengals, Colts, and Browns left on their schedule? Or will Washington build on its first winning streak of the season in a shocking road upset?

Washington at Pittsburgh

Kickoff: Monday, Nov. 7 at 5 p.m. ET

TV: FOX

Spread: Steelers -7

Three Things to Watch

1. How will the rest differential affect the teams?

The biggest thing that sticks out about this matchup is how drastically different the amount of time each team has had to prepare. Since 2018, the NFL has made a point to even out rest differential for teams' schedules, and Pittsburgh and Washington were both supposed to have 10 days of rest. But with the Steelers' game pushed back to Wednesday, there was no avoiding this scenario. It was just a matter of whether the rest differential would be 4-10 or 5-11 in terms of days.

There's been plenty of research showing how rest makes an impact. A 2018 Yale study showed that from 2011-15, home teams had a .568 winning percentage overall. However, when the home team was less rested, that winning percentage fell to .536. That was even more drastic in scenarios where the home team had less than a week’s worth of rest (.481 winning percentage with six days rest compared to seven for the road team).

With Pittsburgh on short rest and Washington on extra rest, the advantage should swing to the road team later in the game as players tire. Plus, Washington has more than double the time to game plan and scheme against a tough Steelers defense.

2. Can the Steelers slow down Antonio Gibson?

Washington is 29th in passing offense (218.6 ypg) and 27th in net yards per pass attempt (5.6). As exciting as second-year wide receiver Terry McLaurin is, this passing offense is nothing to brag about. The only thing keeping it going lately has been rookie running back Antonio Gibson.

Gibson is the league's 13th-leading rusher (645 yards) but is third with 11 rushing touchdowns. And he's been on absolute fire lately. In his last five games, Gibson has 402 rushing yards and eight touchdowns while adding 86 receiving yards on 13 receptions.

The Steelers could be one of Gibson's hardest tests yet, even with linebacker Bud Dupree becoming the second lost by Pittsburgh at the position (Devin Bush) due to a torn ACL. The team ranks eighth against the run (105.7 ypg), albeit just 18th on a per-carry basis (4.4 ypc). Washington had better hope its skill position players can find other ways to score, though, since the Steelers' six rushing touchdowns surrendered are the second-fewest in the league (Saints have given up five).

Gibson has had mixed results against top run defenses too; he had 49 yards on nine attempts against the Browns but 46 on 13 attempts against the Ravens, and 27 yards on 11 carries against the Rams. But all three games were early in the season, so perhaps he'll have a chance to show how he's adapted this season.

3. Can Washington contain the Steelers' aerial attack?

One of the most pleasant surprises this season has been how well Ben Roethlisberger has played. Coming back from an elbow injury is never easy, especially at 38. But the veteran is looking capable once again, even if he's not close to leading the league in passing yards per game, as he did in 2014, '15, and '18.

The Steelers keep supplying him with good, young receivers, as rookie Chase Claypool and second-year wideout Diontae Johnson look like keepers. However, he's been more focused on making shorter, safer throws than going deep. His intended air yards per attempt are down from 7.8 in 2018 to 6.9 this season, and his yards per attempt are down from 7.6 to 6.5. On the bright side, his completion rate is up from 67.0 to 67.5, and his interception rate is down from 2.4 to 1.4 percent.

Washington's pass defense numbers (194.6 ypg, second only to the Steelers) are padded a bit by the fact that plenty of opponents have been able to run out the clock in the second half, but the team still has a solid secondary. Opponents have posted a 88.5 passer rating (seventh) on 6.9 yards per attempt (ninth). Their impressive pass rush (36 sacks, second only to the Steelers, again) will be crucial in slowing down the Steelers because Washington is not built to win a shootout.

Final Analysis

Short rest vs. extra rest will make a massive impact on this game, but these teams just aren't close enough in talent for Washington to pull this one out unless Pittsburgh lays a massive egg. And that's possible — they did barely edge the Broncos 26-21 in their only other game this season on short rest. Don't expect anything fancy from the Steelers since maintaining their health may be the biggest goal of this game, but they should be able to pull out a win based on the strength of their defense.

Three Things to Watch

1. Intangibles

Both of these squads had their bye Week 11 so they are relatively fresh.
